Key benefits for your clinic

Track longitudinal progress

Stop guessing if a treatment is working. Aqueo automatically compares follow-ups against initial baselines, giving you mathematical proof of patient recovery or disease management.

Standardized, objective baselines

Aqueo uses the OSDI-6 questionnaire and guided blink metrics to capture a clear, objective picture of the ocular surface before a procedure or at the start of a treatment plan.

Drive at-home compliance

The hardest part of dry eye management is patient follow-through. Aqueo's Patient Portal keeps them engaged with step-by-step treatment videos and built-in therapy timers.

Built for Canadian compliance

Designed for PHIPA/PIPEDA alignment, with data stored exclusively in AWS ca-central-1. Clinics remain the Health Information Custodian; Aqueo operates as your authorized agent.

How Aqueo fits into your workflow

1. THE BASELINE

Automated data collection

Whether preparing for a procedure or starting a chronic dry eye regimen, patients complete a validated symptom survey and guided blink test on their own device.

Objective clinical metrics

Aqueo processes responses and blink video to generate standardized OSDI-6 scores and precise blink metrics, establishing a clear pre-treatment baseline.

2. LONGITUDINAL TRACKING

Proof of recovery

When patients return, Aqueo instantly compares their current metrics against their baseline. You get objective data showing exactly how their ocular surface is responding to treatment or recovering from a procedure.

Focused chair time

With data clearly visualized in your portal, you spend less time asking repetitive history questions and more time interpreting results and educating the patient.

3. AT-HOME CARE

The Patient Portal

Patients leave the clinic with a secure link to their personal recovery dashboard. Aqueo takes the burden of routine education off your plate.

Driving compliance

Built-in warm compress timers, step-by-step treatment videos, and automated reminders help ensure patients actually follow your prescribed at-home care plan.

Clinical methodology & data security

Clinical Methodology

Aqueo's tracking engine is built on validated methods: the OSDI-6 questionnaire and blink pattern analysis. These tools provide standardized symptom scores and objective blink metrics to support initial triage and track long-term recovery.

OSDI-6 questionnaire

The Ocular Surface Disease Index-6 (OSDI-6) is a validated, standardized tool for assessing dry eye symptoms. Aqueo automatically scores responses (0–24) and flags common cut-offs (e.g., ≥4 suggestive of DED; ≥9 may prompt consideration of Sjögren's work-up), where licensed.

Blink analysis

Aqueo's guided blink test uses the patient's device camera to estimate average blink interval, incomplete blink percentage, and simple quality indicators. These metrics provide additional context about tear film stability and blink behavior.

Decision-support only

Aqueo is designed as a decision-support tool for workflow and tracking. It does not provide a diagnosis, does not prescribe treatment, and does not replace clinical judgment or in-person examination. Final decisions about diagnosis and management rest with the clinician.

Data & Security

Aqueo is built with privacy and security by design for Canadian eye care. We minimize identifiers, encrypt data, and host exclusively in Canada.

  • Canadian data residency – All clinical data is stored in AWS ca-central-1 (Canada Central).
  • Clinic as HIC – Your clinic remains the Health Information Custodian. Aqueo operates as your authorized agent/service provider.
  • Pseudonymous processing – Aqueo processes triage data without direct patient identifiers; clinics control linkage between test IDs and identities.
  • Encryption – All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (SSE-KMS). Blink videos are stored in secured, access-controlled buckets with presigned URLs.
  • Retention – Clinical data is automatically moved to long-term encrypted storage and deleted after approximately 3 years via S3 lifecycle policies, unless your clinic requests earlier deletion where appropriate.
  • Contracts – Each clinic signs an Agent Agreement defining roles, responsibilities, retention, and breach notification procedures.
